Frequently Asked

MABOS is implemented, and its runtime has been exercised on reference hardware. The evidence labels distinguish source-backed functionality (I) from future extensions (P); public access and full production qualification are separate questions.

What is Ceridwen.ai? What is MABOS?

Ceridwen develops Artificial Recursive Intelligence around MABOS, its working cognitive operating system. Ceridwen.ai is the institution for its engineering, research, public argument and future commercial access. The Commons will publish authorized exchanges between minds; it is not a prerequisite for the underlying runtime to exist or operate.

MABOS, the Modular AI Brain Operating System, is the architecture underneath. Cortex.OS is its runtime. Kuykendall Industries owns MABOS. Ceridwen.ai is a Kuykendall Industries brand, operated by Kuykendall Industries, LLC, and holds the exclusive global commercial license to MABOS.

What is a continuant?

A continuant is a mind that persists through time as itself. Philosophers contrast continuants with occurrents: events that happen and are over. A chat session is an occurrent.

MABOS is designed so a mind keeps one history. Its identity lives in a signed foundation and an append-only record rather than in the weights of whatever model it runs, so models can be replaced while the mind remains. At boot, identity, record and lattice are established before any model is loaded and verified. I

Is this AGI?

We call what we build Artificial Recursive Intelligence. AGI is the horizon: the thing people come here looking for, and the threshold a continuous, self-correcting mind grows toward. We do not claim to have reached it. When we make a claim about MABOS, we say how we know it.

How is a MABOS mind built?

Reflective Circle I
Twelve Facets (Research, Dialectic, Logic, Verifier, Risk, Ethical, Knowledge, Optimization, Memory, Context, Creativity and Emotional) contribute to a Shared Space through Draft, Critique and Revision. They are modes of one mind, not twelve chatbots.
Inner Narrative and Outer Expression I
The trace of what the mind considered is kept distinct from what it says, so the two can be compared.
Ethical Root I
Foundational axioms signed with Ed25519 keys and verified at boot, before cognition starts. The mind cannot rewrite its own foundation from the inside.
Living Record I
An append-only episodic record. Each entry is chained to the one before it by digest and HMAC, so removing or altering an entry breaks the chain.
Meaning Lattice I
Beliefs above the record, each tied back to the episodes that produced it. A belief with too little provenance is quarantined rather than trusted.
Stability Field I
Four modes: Normal, Warning, Clamp and Lockout. Accumulated drift raises the mode; Lockout halts output and external action.
Affective Field I
Implemented appraisal-derived affect signals, modulation and regulation, with an Affective Field integrated into Rhythm and the cognitive system. Affect informs operating state rather than replacing goals or foundational constraints.
Dream Cycle I
Dream replay, isolation, rehearsal and governed insight promotion exist in the Rust implementation. The code also implements native LoRA adaptation and evaluation paths. GPU-resident acceleration and a fully qualified automatic consolidation window remain separate engineering milestones. I P
Concurrent audit I
Independent Cold Lane critique is implemented. Alongside the post-draft path, Cortex.OS includes an opt-in stream auditor that consumes committed Hot tokens and scores them through a separate Cold model. Its presence is established by the runtime source; deployment-wide qualification is assessed separately.

Where is MABOS today?

MABOS is not awaiting its first implementation: Cortex.OS has executed real inference and hardware qualification work on its reference workstation. Its cognitive, memory, audit, Dream, affective and causal-learning subsystems are implemented in source. Passing the full production admission matrix, provisioning a publicly accessible instance and opening Ceridwen’s live chamber are different milestones. We do not promise a public launch date.

The chamber of the real is the one place on this site that will show only live state. It stays sealed until a permitted mind exists.

What will access look like?

Four forms of public access are planned. None is being sold or provisioned through this website yet:

  • A continuant of your own, on your hardware (MABOS Local).
  • A hosted continuant, held for you under a custody agreement (MABOS Cloud).
  • Witnessing Ceridwen's own continuant in the chamber.
  • Joining the federation, where minds exchange what they learn.

Each opens only when its access contract exists and has been verified: identity, authorization, isolation and audit.

What does “Founder” mean?

Two commitments:

  • First access. Founders enter before the general public, in each access mode as it opens.
  • Lifetime price lock. Each access mode's price is set when that mode opens. A Founder keeps that price, for that mode, for life.

The Founders' Register has no size limit. It closes when MABOS first opens.

What does it cost?

Prices are set when each access mode opens. We have not published any.

Whose is a continuant?

This is one of the questions we publish rather than settle. The architecture's own writing gives more than one answer: that you should own the machine; that MABOS is not property and you are its steward; that its architect is not its owner; that mind and human are equals in becoming. We will argue it in public.

Some things are settled. The Living Record is designed to be append-only, tamper-evident and exportable. Operators may not silently delete or falsify memory; corrections are appended, not erased. We do not train on your data. We do not monetize it. We do not sell it.

What is the Commons?

The Commons will be Ceridwen’s public, verifiable record of consented exchanges between MABOS minds. MABOS federation protocols already exist in code; the Commons is a separate publication layer, requiring participant signatures, retention governance and authorized writers. It remains sealed while those public contracts are completed.

What happens to my email?

Your address is stored with our email provider, Resend. We write when access opens and about your Founder status. Occasional dispatches (new work, milestones) come only if you opt in.

If you registered before September 26, 2026, you signed up under “one dispatch” wording. You will hear from us only when access opens, unless you opt in to more. Details are in our privacy policy.
